My Story
Hello, My name is Nina. My overall approach is to help those discover their purpose, strategically navigate the job market and pursue their dream job/career.
As a 4th generation Japanese American (Yonsei) gal, I was born and raised in the vibrant Excelsior-Mission district of San Francisco, CA. I hold a bachelor's degree in Business-Marketing from the University of California, Riverside, which I completed in 2013.
My journey in the recruiting field began in 2014 when I secured a role as a Technical Recruiter with Mondo, a respected staffing agency in San Francisco. Through my work there, I made a significant impact, which led to an opportunity to transfer to Mondo's headquarters in New York City. Eventually, I transitioned from agency recruiting to join the growing remote offices of Facebook New York in 2016 as a Recruiting Sourcer.

In this role, I played a vital part in building and hiring for the Machine Learning Engineering pipeline for both Facebook and Instagram teams on the East Coast. Over my four years at Facebook, I expanded my responsibilities to include hiring Artificial Intelligence Researchers for Facebook's AI Research and Applied Machine Learning group.
In 2021, following the pandemic, I decided to explore opportunities outside of FAANG and joined a health tech start-up called Noom. There, I led remote hiring efforts for various tech pipelines, including General Software Engineers, iOS + Android Engineers, Data Scientists, and Engineering Leadership. However, like many in a start-up, I experienced burnout after building Noom's engineering organization.
During the Summer of 2022, I had a transformative "self-discovery" and made the decision to prioritize my overall well-being and ended my role with Noom. Taking time for myself, I traveled and recharged. During this period, I realized that I still had a deep passion for helping individuals find their purpose and secure their dream jobs. This realization led me to consider a change to Career and Life Coaching.
In the Fall of 2022, I was introduced to Formation, a competitive software engineering fellowship aimed at helping individuals from all backgrounds break into the tech industry. I joined as a Career Coach, providing guidance to the Fellows in areas such as resume reviews, job hunting strategies, interview preparation, and compensation negotiation. Simultaneously, I launched my own career coaching business and absolutely love and thrive on helping others discover their career potential.
